Background and History:
Charlotte has no idea where she was born. Her mom died in child birth, and her dad gave her up knowing he couldn't take care of his little girl. So she was shipped from relative to relative.
Some treated her as if she was never there, others treated her like a mini slave, but there were a few that treated her like their own child. Every time she was shipped to someone knew, she would hope they had changed, but they never did.
With moving around so much, Charlotte hardly made any friends and was always "the new girl." It was hard on her, but it just made her stronger in the long run. She missed out on a lot of things a little girl should never miss out out. She even missed her senior prom.
But Charlotte always did excellent at school, and was never held back. She was interested in a lot of different things, but never knew what she wanted to be, then one day she saw a group of students from the Starfleet Academy and right then Charlotte knew that's what she wanted to do.
So with she turned eighteen, she moved out and began a life on her own. Charlotte worked two jobs, but ended up failing school and had to drop out. This devastated her, and in the end Charlotte began going to clubs and partying, but she never let loose that desire to go to the Academy.
Then one night at a club, she met the man she would come to love. The went out for coffe, went out to eat, saw movies. They did everything together. Charlotte asked him to move in with her, and he eagerly said yes. Little did she know he was just using her.
Charlotte had an aunt Sarah. She was Charlotte's favorite person to live with, but Sarah was older and couldn't take care of Charlotte anymore. They were both upset at the choice, but knew they couldn't do anything about it. While with another relative, Sarah passed away but left everything to Charlotte, when she turned eighteen.
Charlotte sold the house since it held to many memories for her. Nick would have never found out if Charlotte hadn't told him everything, but she loved him, why shouldn't she tell him everything? She would come to hate herself for this later on.
She walked in on him and her best friend making out and was instantly furious and heartbroken at the same time. Charlotte kicked him out and told him that she never wanted to see him again. This is what added to her problem with trusting.
Charlotte tried dating, but it never worked, she always wondered if they were cheating on her, of if they were using her. And she hardly made any real friends, more of aquaitences. It was easier on Charlotte that way.

Sample Roleplay:
Charlotte groaned as her eyes fluttered open, temporarily blinded by the harsh light coming through the window. She rolled over and tried to fall back asleep, but it was to no avail. Charlotte finally just gave up and pushed herself out of bed. She raised her eyebrows as she looked down and discovered she had slept in her clothes.
Then she sighed and realized she had stayed out too late last night at the club. She sauntered to the bathroom and washed off her smeared make-up and changed her clothes. She emerged looking like a real human instead of a racoon woman.
She really needed to stop partying, she was constatnly tired. At least the meaningless dates had stopped. Just as she was thinking of her deperate need of change in her life style, her stomach let out a loud grumble. Charlotte just smiled and walked into the kitch, her bare feet padding along the wood floors of her apartment. Luckily it was Saturday, and Charlotte had the day off.
Charlotte fixed herself a bowl of cereal and sat down at her kitchen table, which was heaped with garbage and dirty dishes and letters from different relatives. But one caught her eye. It was the paperwork for the Starfleet Academy. Charlotte's spirits were instantly raised. She dug through the heaping pile and found a pen and began working hasitly on the paperwork.
She finally finished and walked outside and dropped it in the mailbox. Charlotte knew she probably wouldn't get it, but it was worth a shot wasn't it? Maybe she would meet different people there, maybe she would fall in love again, or find a best friend. She knew it was far-fetched but it didn't hurt to dream.
