Prep school character for creator of Delphine Xie & Abdel Husayn
Character's Name: Daisuke Kimura
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Physical Profile (height, build, weight, hair colour, eye colour, skin tone, race, etc.): Medium-short (like 5'5"), slender, not too muscular, of Japanese ethnicity so black hair, pale skin, dark-brown/black eyes.
Race: Human
Birthplace: Andoria
Hometowns: ShiKahr, Vulcan / Osaka, Japan, Earth
Career track: Prep student so N/A - though if it matters, Daisuke plans to follow the engineering track if admitted to the Academy at the end of his term in the Prep.
Personality: Daisuke is very kind and bighearted, and generally looks for the best in everyone. He likes to help people whenever he can, and generally puts others' needs before his own. However, he is not a "people person." Daisuke is more of an introvert, and can be quite shy around people he does not know yet. He is a man of few words. (He'd be an ISFJ on the Myers-Briggs scale - Del's an INTJ and I think I mentioned already that Abdel is ENFP.) Though very creative and a talented visual artist and violinist, Daisuke's academic strengths are in math and science; he is not as good at "humanities" subjects like literature, history, geography, etc. The exception to this rule is foreign language, but that's largely because Daisuke's experience living so many different places has made him fluent in many languages. Out of Earth languages, Daisuke can speak Japanese, English, and Arabic, and in addition he is one of a select few non-Starfleet humans who can speak Vulcan (he doesn't speak Andorian since he only lived there for a year when he was an infant). He is a big fan of 20th century punk rock music and spends a lot of time listening to it. And despite his generally demure attitude, Daisuke has a slight bit of a rebellious streak.
Background and History: Daisuke is the son of Yukio and Ai Taguchi, who served as a Federation ambassador to Andoria and later Vulcan (representing Earth) and as a journalist covering foreign affairs, respectively. Daisuke is a triplet with his sister Kyoko and brother Satoshi; he has no other siblings. The triplets were born on Andoria in 2360 while their parents were stationed there; one year later, their father's appointment was switched to Vulcan, and they spent the next eight years of their life in the city of Shi'Kahr. The three children even began attending school there, though they had trouble keeping up with their Vulcan classmates.
After eight years, the Taguchis decided to take a year off and return to Japan to see their family. However, en route, their ship was destroyed by Romulan spies and crash-landed on a small moon. Miraculously, the 9-year-old Daisuke and Kyoko managed to survive through both the crash and the few days alone before Starfleet ships were able to rescue them, though their parents and brother Satoshi died.
The siblings were adopted by their aunt, Momoko Kimura, who lived in Osaka. They lived and attended school there until high school, when Kyoko was accepted into a top-ranked high school in Tokyo, while Daisuke (who was ineligible for the Japanese high school entrance exam after having been suspended once in 8th grade for vandalism) instead decided to go to the Dubai International School, a prestigious boarding school in the United Arab Emirates. Although he knew that transporter technology made it possible for him to attend school in Dubai and still live in Osaka, he decided to live there anyway, wanting to better immerse himself in a different culture.
It was there at the DIS that Daisuke met Abdel Husayn, who was also a student there and on the football (soccer) team with Daisuke. The two became best friends, with Daisuke being one of the only students at first who was accepting of Abdel's former identity as a Borg drone. Though Daisuke had originally planned to go to MIT, Stanford or Tokyo University and become an engineer, Abdel's single-minded focus on entering Starfleet inspired Daisuke to think about entering the Academy as well. However, Daisuke did not pass the Starfleet exam the first time. He ended up being accepted to MIT's engineering program, but while there he couldn't get his mind off his desire to be a Starfleet officer. So, after only a month in Massachusetts, Daisuke decided to transfer to the Starfleet Preparatory School to make sure he nailed the exam on his second try.

Sample Roleplay:
It was a crisp day in early fall, and Daisuke Kimura was sitting on the quad at MIT - but his mind was far, far away from Cambridge. In fact, it was on the other side of the country, in San Francisco, where his best friend Abdel was beginning his first year at the Starfleet Academy.
"You should be proud of me," Abdel had written. "Even though I'm on the science/medical track, I'm taking an engineering class this semester. It's an intro, of course, but it's still very demanding. You would really like it here."
Daisuke sighed. That was where he should be. Not here - it wasn't like the MIT students weren't nice or anything, and it was fun to be surrounded by only math-and-science geeks for a change. But Daisuke's head was swimming with visions of exploring deep space. Who knows where Starfleet could take him? They were going lots of interesting places lately - the Gamma Quadrant, the Delta Quadrant, heck, even another galaxy maybe!
Though in his lap was his PADD with the notes for his calc test (which Daisuke was supposed to be studying for), in his hands he had something much more important and interesting. Application: Starfleet Academy Preparatory School Daisuke examined it. He wasn't sure if his Aunt Momo would approve of the idea of Daisuke giving up his seat at MIT to spend a year prepping for Starfleet, but Daisuke found the idea rather attractive. Sure, being in the best engineering school on Earth for a year would probably give him an edge on Starfleet admissions over the fresh high school graduates, but would it be quite as much of an edge as he would get studying right next to the Academy itself, spending whole months just prepping for the test?
"Forget this place," Daisuke said to himself, filling out his application at warp speed. "I'm gonna be in Starfleet and no one's gonna stop me."
