Prep student for Kalath Ner'hal. Permission was granted by the admin.
Character's Name: Jamilan
Species: Infant Changeling
Age: Unknown; has used humanoid form for 7 years
Gender: Assumes the Male gender
Birthplace: Changeling Homeworld
Physical Profile:
The humanoid form it has taken can either be male or female - but male is preferred. It is working to perfect its form to make itself look more human. Its skin is soft, and is a light peach. Its form is thin, and its “clothing”is shifted with its form; it likes to mix and match different colours and textures when not in its cadet uniform. It has short, black hair with short bangs; its features are almost artificial looking, but it has been able to arrange the face so that its blue eyes, short nose, and thin mouth are in the right place. Ears are very difficult, and it compensates currently by obscuring them with its hair.
It must return to its liquid state every 14 hours.
Career track: Undecided
Personality:
Jamilan is foremost a very curious creature. It loves humanoids, partly because it feels its kind are evil and fears them. It doesn't like being disliked, though it has trouble understanding other beings, and interacting with them. This shyness has led to a partially quiet, blunt nature when talking with others, and a tendency to eavesdrop. It may not know certain rules of culture, or understand things – but is willing to learn. It puts its education before anything else at this time. This may lead to a bit of misunderstanding. What angers it most is accusations of it being judged by its race - thus it hopes to perfect its shapeshifting so that it can pass unnoticed among cadets - though it is aware that this isn't a permanent fix, thus is working on this weakness.
Background and History:
Many years ago, a hundred Changelings were sent to varying parts of the galaxy, as a means of exploration. It first assumed a shape while in space after its stasis chamber malfunctioned. It assumed the shape first of the cylinder it had been inside of, and then had to find a way to propel itself through space. It was eventually, however, found by a Karemma captain, who was fascinated by it, and made it assume varying shapes for the amusement and fascination of his crew. It eventually formed a face and a mouth, and began to communicate with them. They were astounded, but unfortunately, in a need to get their ship repaired after a damaging nebula, they had to sell it, and the people who found it took it through the wormhole – this was in 2370 – to Deep Space Nine. It was at first nervous, assuming the shape of their cargo, and only recovered sometime after they had left the station.
It continued its quest to assume a humanoid form, after changing hands to a Lissepian. At first, they didn't know what it was. Just about the time it had managed to assume a humanoid form, they learned about the Dominion and ejected it into space, out of fear. The Changeling was by that time, able to take a simple form that could propel it through space. It went to the closest planet, which was uninhabitable by most life, but was fine for a changeling. It was capable of getting through the exceptionally thin atmosphere, and while it was on this planet, it nearly perfected its humanoid shape, before leaving the planet, and being picked up by another ship. These aliens were traders, and thus had access to news of current happenings, including the Dominion threat.
The Changeling had always had a desire to find out about its people, but once it learned about the Changeling scare, it began to get depressed, and hid, trying its best to resist its urges to go “home.” At news of the Battle of Cardassia, it was especially angered, at the thought of several innocents being killed, and it decided to occupy its time, first finding out more things about the world around it – a year of studying – and finally deciding upon a career in Starfleet. It took a few months to get the approval of the starbase commander – Alexander Cross - that it contacted, before a letter of recommendation was sent. Then came its summer classes. Due to the fact that the Changelings were still not exactly trusted, it was sent to prep school, arriving in October of the present year.
Jamilan Kelain was a name it gave itself while on the Lissepian freighter. It can be shortened to "Jamie."

Sample Roleplay:
(This is a theoretical sample; it did not happen).
Deep Space Four was a massive facility, and while its situation wasn't like that of Deep Space 9 – which the Changeling had been on briefly, but had been too shy during his time on. Now, he was coming out of his shell, as the humans liked to say, but it wasn't quite up to talking to anyone. It was a matter of time, though, before base security noticed its Changeling-like features – or not. It didn't know whether it hoped for this or not, as long as it wasn't arrested or killed. But the latter wasn't likely.
Its fears were confirmed when a golden-uniformed = most obviously security - Starfleet officer appeared behind it. “You, come with me,” she said coldly. The Changeling got up, noting the woman's features, and the uniform which it already knew the design of. Her blond hair was tied into a tight bun. The two pips on the uniform denoted a Lieutenant.
“Okay,” it said simply, following her to someone's office. It wasn't the security chief's office that she led it to – they had passed that. She pressed the button on the door, and it was answered by a man's voice.
“Enter.” The voice was male, and sounded cold. They entered, and it eyed the man at the desk, who was looking up at it with a cold indifference. He wore a red uniform, and his pips denoted a Lieutenant Commander – but that wasn't what intrigued the Changeling. Instead, it was the softened Cardassian features, and the bridged nose. It could be about several things, but the Changeling was pretty sure that the man wasn't thrilled about its presence.
“I am Executive Officer Hebrin Tayel,” he said. “And I am wondering what you are doing on this station.” He stared into the Changeling's fabricated blue eyes. The Changeling was both irritated and fearful that this hybrid had his mind set, as it began to explain.
