The terraforming labs weren't far from the shuttleport, according to the map in the PADD that Gina was clutching. She was walking down the street, such as it was, with a sense of nervous excitement. In charge! Me!
She turned to the others, unable to surpress the grin she was showing on her face.
"Not far," she said. "Down here, left, then it should be up on the right."

Richard followed in Red's wake and managed to contain his grin though a few smirks and smiles slipped out as he listened and watched their excited leader take charge and lead them... with directions.
After a moment Richard stepped up a little and walked along side Red and glanced at the PADD in her hand.
"Something tells me you're liking the command power." Richard said with a smile, however there was no grin on his face and nor did any winks twitch Red's way. He looked up at her from the PADD...
"Actually, the last turn is on the left." Richard whispered in her ear before letting out a little chuckle and sped up, the directions set in his mind.

"Something tells me you're liking the command power."
Gina raised an eyebrow at him. So what if she was? She was on the command track, wasn't she?
"Actually, the last turn is on the left."
She looked up from the PADD to see him disappearing off in front of her. Her eyes were wide, shocked. She hadn't made such a simple mistake, had she? She looked down at the PADD again. No... turn left, up on the right.
"That's what I said!" she protested, then immediately wished that she hadn't. Don't let him get to you! She looked around for Liz. Where was she when Gina needed the moral support?!

Liz trailed behind Gina, staying away from Richard as much as possible. Richard didn't wait long to start needling Gina. He made some remark about the directions, and predictably, got to Gina. "That's what I said!" she protested to their male companion.
Liz giggled and came up abreast of her roommate. She bumped the red-haired girl with her elbow. "Don't let him get to you, Gine. He's too much of an idiot for the effort." she said in a undertone.

"That's what I said!"
Richard allowed himself the award of chuckling quietly at Gina's words. Making his way through the streets Richard lead the group towards the labs, his mind flashing back to the PADD everytime he thought he was going the wrong way. Maybe he was?
Or maybe he should just let the team leader lead them? It was her job after all. Richard discreetly fell back with the pair of girls (or tried), "So... what are we doing again? When we get there that is." He asked, both for his own sake and their leaders.

"Don't let him get to you, Gine. He's too much of an idiot for the effort."
Gina nodded, and sighed a little. She knew, she really did.. and yet for some reason she was still feeling worked up about it. Biting at her lip a little, she forced herself to take a deep breath and smile at Liz. Yes, that helped. She wasn't here on her own. And she knew Liz wasn't about to take Storm's side.
"Thanks," she said, quietly.
"So... what are we doing again? When we get there that is."
She forced herself not to get wound up again as Richard appeared beside them.
"You don't know? I guess that's why you're not in charge," she quipped, feeling a bit more sure of herself now. "We've got to chat to the scientists." She gave Richard a pointed look. "Don't start chatting up the female ones," she added, "we're not getting thrown out before we're done because you can't keep a rein on your hormones."

Richard allowed the quip to go unanswered and made a face at Red's words about chatting up the local women. "Sheesh, have some confidence in me, won't you? I thought leaders were supposed to inspire that." He said, finishing with a wiggle of his eyebrows before pausing to add something else.
"Besides, they're all probably 30 or something, too old for me." Richard said. He was probably right and a little more than that, he just hoped the place wouldn't be crawling with old women. A shiver ran down Richard's spine at the thought.

Liz snorted a laugh at Gina's comment about Smooth 'chatting up' the scientists. "I can just imagine." she muttered. She glanced around, thensnuck a peek at Gina's PADD. "Isthat it?" she asked, pointing to a rather ugly building up ahead. It was low to the ground, with a huge array of antennaes and receivers on the top.
"It looks like a porcupine." Liz observed under her breath. This was going to be dull- they didn't even get to do anything fun, like collect sensors, or work with machinery...ugh.

"Besides, they're all probably 30 or something, too old for me."
Gina rolled her eyes.
"Oh yes?" she retorted. "And what's your perfect age, hmm?" Pretty much immediately she wished she hadn't said that, and diverted her attention to Liz instead who was leaning over to look at her PADD.
"Yeah," she said in reply to her friend. "That's the building. It's ugly, isn't it?" She rolled her eyes again. "I hope they've got something fun for us to do. I don't want to spend the morning chatting to scientists, I don't know about you two."
They approached the building, walking in through the main doors. A smartly dressed woman was sat at a desk which looked like it was probably reception.
"May I help you?" she asked, politely.
"Cadets Em, Sur'Shess and Storm here to meet with some of your scientists, ma'am," replied Gina in an equally polite tone. "We're from Starfleet Academy, on Earth."
"Very well," said the woman, smiling and nodding. "Please wait here. Someone will be along shortly."

"You forgot me," Delphine said, catching up to the others. She hadn't heard Lieutenant K'Pau the first time, so she'd had to clarify which team she was on. She was glad that she managed to get to the right spot in time to start their mission, and felt embarrassed by her lateness; Delphine normally held herself to a very high standard when it came to punctuality.
Though the others seemed disdainful of simply meeting scientists, rather than doing some "actual" work, Delphine liked the prospect. To her, learning about terraforming seemed much more "serious" than scavenger hunts or whatever else the other teams were up to.
She approached the scientist before she could go off to fetch the "someone" who was supposed to be meeting them. "Cadet Xie, ma'am," she said, introducing herself. "Also of Starfleet Academy."

"And what's your perfect age, hmm?"
It took every ounce of will power for Richard to resist replying to that one, and honestly. Instead he allowed himself the luxury of a wide grin and continued on, his ears prickling to the conversation and his eyes bemusing at the building they neared.
Richard remained silent as they approached the reception though his eyes didn't stick around as they zoomed around everywhere. The place looked very clean though Richard's gaze switched over to the voice of a... fourth member of the team? Richard watched as the Vulcan moved swiftly over to the receptionist to mention herself as present.

They entered the Porcupine. It was as ugly inside as out. The receptionist hurried off, and Liz glanced at- another girl joined them. A Vulcan. She looked vaguely familiar, but Liz for the life of her couldn't place the girl. Xie. Ah yes, Liz remembered now- they shared some obscure class many slept through.
Liz occupied the time waiting by alternately watching a chronometer on the opposite wall tick and thinking up ways she could back at Storm on this trip. She glanced at him. He hadn't even tried to speak with her since the night of the Halloween party. A bit disappointing, actually. She clenched her teeth. She didn't actually find herself missing his company, did she?!
Blegh.

Delphine realized she didn't really know any of her teammates. She knew their names, but not much else. One of them - Liz - was in a class with her. Something dull, like Intro to Exogeology (or "Space Rocks 101," as the cadets often called it). The other two, Gina and Richard, she only knew through what other people said about them. Richard in particular: he apparently had a habit for making every girl either fall in love with him, eternally despite him, or both. Delphine knew better than to listen to rumors, so she just hoped this one wasn't true, given her track record with the opposite sex.
After introducing herself to the scientists, she turned to her fellow teammates. "Delphine Xie," she said, nodding. "It's strange," she continued, "we've been at the Academy for a few months now, but there are still so many people I don't know. Should we get acquainted?" She realized how odd this sounded, in Earthling terms, to address a group of people rather than a single person that way. Delphine didn't care; it was logical, after all. She was half-Vulcan, and it was about time she started acting like it.

Gina grinned at the new arrival.
"Welcome to the team," she said, aimiably. It was just like Starfleet to reorganise the teams just to try and throw them off balance. Well, Gina wasn't about to react to that sort of play. She knew the way these things worked. She was going to show that she did have what it took to be a great command officer.
Delphine Xie," she said, nodding. "It's strange," she continued, "we've been at the Academy for a few months now, but there are still so many people I don't know. Should we get acquainted?"
"Sure," she replied. "Aegina Em. Command track, as you can obviously see. And a pilot, which you obviously can't." She looked between Delphine and the others. "My roommate and friend, Liz Sur'Shess. And... Storm. Richard Storm. Resident smart-alec, trouble maker and pain in the neck, arm, leg and any other part of your anatomy you care to think of." She smiled sweetly at Richard. "Did I miss anything out?"

Richard was ready and able to make his first line to the Vulcan when Red flew in with her own greeting, he repressed the urge to roll his eyes and then oddly enough found himself grinning by the time Red had finished.
"Only that if you play nice, so do I." Richard replied though his words were mainly centered at Red though his eyes swiftly turned to Xie. Richard thought that was quite accurate, those ears of hers were quite cute and... feline.
Footsteps from one of the hallways drawled his attention from Delphine to the arrival of the scientists.
"We're ready for you now."
Richard tried not to let his imagination run when that was said before moving to follow the scientists to wherever they were going to explain or lecture on about things. Maybe he should try sleep walking?
